Individualising Your Luggage With Identification
You might recall the old Ford advertisement back in the days when he was starting out. He said to customers, allegedly, that they could have their car produced in any colour they liked, as long as it was black. For many years, it seemed that suitcases were much the same. This has changed dramatically these days, although you still see a majority of bags and cases trundling their way along the carousel at the baggage area of an airport are either black or navy blue. Quite why this is the case, I can’t be sure, but today there is much scope for variation.
Indeed, many suitcases today are available in a wide variety of colours and patterns, from those that look like denim to non pink, or even a glorious technicolour flower design. The individuality of a case achieves a few things. It can be fun, it also allows the manufacturer to charge more for the case than a plain one usually, and of course, most importantly, it makes it much easier to recognise when reclaiming your luggage at the end of a long trip.
Obtaining your luggage from a retailer that is less well known can mean that you have access to luggage styles which are not common at all. High street supermarkets that so often now sell anything from cars to cans and from microwavable meals to microwaves themselves are now selling cheap luggage. The problem with this is that, whilst initially the luggage may seem quite different and easily recognised, with so many stores across the country selling the exact same styles this season, you’ll find yourself just one of many disappointed customers still hunting for their bag.
Rather than spending a fortune on finding a unique luggage kit, try doing a few simple things which will help to personalise your luggage and make it far more easily recognized by you when watching the carousel rotate round for the hundred and fourteenth time. Years ago, a popular thing to do was to attach travel stickers to cases. This was mainly to record the places it had been to as a kind of public souvenir, but it also did help to personalise the case much more. Attaching stickers is one way of achieving this individuality, but why not have a bit more fun? In most DIY stores you can now pick up vinyl covering which can be used for kitchen surfaces and tables. It is hard wearing, easy to affix, and not too expensive. Covering a hard case with this is fairly easy to achieve – and you know your case it almost certainly going to be unmistakeable.
You could also try using the flat, bungee style cords which can fix right round the case and help keep it closed. They serve a practical purpose, but also help again to make your case easier to spot. A number of different styles are available, many for children too.
I have even seen some people’s cases daubed with paint. It’s cheap, and not particularly attractive, but again, it makes it easy to spot. None of these methods take a great deal of time to achieve, but you’ll thank yourself next time you’re waiting at the airport and can smugly launch yourself off to the taxi rank with your case, leaving everyone else prodding and poking through the luggage labels.

Home made vinyl cutter / incisore fonografico fatto in casa.
This video shows the setting-up of a simple vinyl cutter. As a music/vinyl lover a real cutter was in my dreams but it was too expensive. This one has been made mainly from “trash” (old loudspeakers, hardware etc.). I used CDs as “blanks”. The black ones really resemble a real record! The second part of the movie contains the audio from these “records” played with a portable turntable. I apologise for low video/audio quality (I did it with a cheap camera and audio is taken by camera mic as it is played back by the portable turntable speaker) and for my barking dog.

Lamp Making Instructions
I guess I have to add a little something to this video so that people can really appreciate the lamps themselves. But until then you will simply have to take my word for how nice these lamps look.

Fuck the Facts – “Unnamed EP” Album Review
A lot of you guys asked for it, so here ya go. Fuck the Facts in all their glory.
R&P My heart holds a special place for vinyl….?
MQ:Does yours?
MQ2:Why do you enjoy Vinyl over other formats? (If you prefer other formats, that’s okay too, explain why they are more special to you than vinyl.)
MQ3: Favorite album you own and why.
MQ4: Tell me about your last vinyl you have played. (For example, where were you, who were you with, what were you doing, and of course, what album.)
My last vinyl played was Saturday. My boyfriend and I were getting ready to visit friends for the evening, we put on Bob Dylan’s ‘Desire’ had a few drinks and listened to the entire album. I stretched out on a big old velvet and wood couch and fully enjoyed the sound in the room as Bob Dylan played.
*I give TU to all serious answers. I will not choose a BA based on my own musical tastes or biases, I will pick what trulyly feel is the best answer to my questions.
Have fun take those ol records off the shelf (and dust them off)….
Y!A suggested category:

Machine Head : Yes the artwork is a very good point. I was looking recently at one of the Dylan and the Band albums and the cover had that unfinished ‘artpaper/newsprint’ look and looked like charcol scrawlings. Neil Young’s Zuma is similar. Sometimes even the simple ones (like those) can be just as eye catching as something bold and full (like Sargent Pepper).
Great point. That really gave vinyl class. I wish though that you would have stated why you don’t miss them. If you read this please consider adding details.
How to sound dampen your room
Noise driving you crazy? Family members, room-mates, neighbors making too much racket? Or are you the one who’s creating the hubbub? Whatever the case may be, sound dampening your room may be the way to go. To get started though you have to understand how sound and noise works before you can defeat it. Sound waves travel through air and some materials can dampen these waves. Vibrations are another source that can create noise by traveling from one object to another and vice versa.
If money is not a problem then using manufactured sound dampening materials is the way to go. Made from polyether foam and vinyl these composites absorb sound. Others are made from recycled cotton fiber layered into tiles which decrease sound from the walls and ceilings and reduces sound wave vibrations. Some products are made of heavy, flexible vinyls that become part of the wall, ceiling and floor. They are then covered with normal sheet rock or paneling.
Remember that windows and doors will also contribute to a noisy room. Weather-stripping doors and windows can also alleviate sound waves from entering. You can also purchase peel-and-stick vinyl materials for the windows which are obviously easy to install.
The simplest and perhaps the easiest solution to dampen the noise are to use conventional methods like carpeting on the floor. Then use cardboard chicken egg trays that can be purchase online to cover all four walls and door. Once this is done you can hang thick drapes all along the inside room also covering the door. Make sure the drapes are long enough to hang from ceiling to floor. These simple steps will dampen the outside noise dramatically.
Based on what you want the end results to be there is a wide variety of options in sound dampening a room. Are you trying to get a good night’s sleep? If so, and you want to save a whole bunch of money, simply purchasing an eye mask, ear plugs and using a white noise machine will do the trick. If you’re looking to create a recording studio then methods and materials need to change drastically. Remember that “sound-proofing” a room isn’t practical because it eliminates air-waves, air which you need to breath.
