Neil Young Tickets ? Young’s Twist to Promote the Latest Set

With spring dates that finish early June, Neil Young isn’t ceasing brand promotions as his Twisted Road Tourgets the final leg of tour dates. Following performances in Texas through June 7th, Young will complete work on his latest album while promoting last year’s Fork in the Road. The solo acoustic tour is just 13 dates and featured a brief residence in Nashville, where Young has previously called home.

According to former bandmate David Crosby, Young is working with Daniel Lanois, producer to U2 and Bob Dylan, on the new set. The veteran rock and roller revealed to his Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young alum that recording sessions are going well. “Neil told me last week that he was having a great time talking music with [Lanois] and just relating to him,” Crosby told Rolling Stone. Though Crosby revealed he offered up his own harmonizing skills on the next set, he knows that Young does the solo acoustic thing the best. “He does that thing probably better than anybody,” Crosby continued with Rolling Stone. “He’s a fantastic musician, but also a great storyteller.”

In the past, Young’s stories have earned him loads of accolades and this latest production will be no different. Yet this album’s rhythm is sure to be much more retrospective as Young’s longtime friend and filmmaker L.A. Johnson passed away. Johnson and Young had long worked together producing Young’s concert films and is impacting that latest Young album in more ways than one. “I suspect this will be a very heartfelt record. I expect it will be a very special record,” Crosby continued.

Though the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singer had collaborated with other musicians for years, he’s best served solo. An introspective soul, as many have described him, these spring dates are the first solo appearances from the former Buffalo Springfield performer in a decade. The dates correlate with the release of his first retrospective release, The Archive Vol. 1 1963- 1972, which appeared in June. The archives issue included the first four solo albums of Young’s career on both CD and 140-gram vinyl; the set has limited its numbers to just 3,000 units worldwide, reported LiveDaily.com in November.

Though he’s been performing for over four decades, the sheer enthusiasm that Young first premiered with Buffalo Springfield is effervescent. Buffalo Springfield remains one of the purveyors of California folk rock, though Young’s contributions – aside from forming the group with Stephen Stills – were small; he left in 1968 to start recording solo, though only one album emerged from that movement before Young formed Crazy Horse. Everybody Knows this is Nowhere was his first with Crazy Horse support and first to go gold, featuring Young staples like “Cinnamon Girl” and “Down by the River.”

Before long Young partnered up with Crosby, Stills & Nash for the 1970 set Déjà vu and began part of the act while simultaneously working on solo material. While CSNY reeked of turmoil, Young’s solo worked spelled success as “Heart of Gold” peaked at the top of the charts. The next 30 years saw a series of roller coaster releases, as Young’s efforts began to reflect the ups and downs of personal relationships, friends lost, lovers found and more. Still, the veteran performer continues to impress with lyrical maturity, explorative harmonies and persistent album sales.
