Where can I find some cd shelves or tall rotating tower cd shelves that will hold at least 2400 or so cds &..?
Where can I find some cd shelves or tall rotating tower cd shelves that will hold at least 2400 or so cds and that can hold also 1800 dvds & about 600 vhs videotapes?
Before I forget I have a bunch a lot of viny records too and I’m wanting to increase what I have of those as well as more cds, dvds, vhs tapes and even increase what little I have of cassettes, 8 track tapes and even start getting reel to reel & ‘master tapes’.
I’ve got tons and tons of cds, dvds and vhs tapes obviously, which some are already on a bunch of plastic cd shelves and I’ve got some on bookshelves, as well as in huge containers & some in boxes too. Some of my cds are in plastic shelves that hold 120 each, which I’ve stacked on top and alongside each other and some of them I have in other plastic cd shelves that hold 96 each. Some of them are triple and double cd collection/compilation sets so they fit perfectly in slots that can hold double cd sets. As I mentioned I have so many that I ran out of room in my cd shelves for them, so I had to put some on shelves and in containers and boxes.
Also as I mentioned, I want to increase what I have in cds, dvds, vhs tapes, vinyl, etc; to add to what I have and obviously I need more shelves to be more organized and have easier access than digging through containers and boxes with those audio and video things stacked not only alongside but on top of each other.
What can I say, I like my entertainment and I also like to entertain with my stuff also, so I have lots of tunes to chose from for compilations that I want to make for my vehicle(s), especially for traveling around the city & on road trips and for when I have parties, get togethers, barbeques, besides dates & other people that I’d have living with me in the future such as a future wife and future kids of course too.
Which btw, one reason why I mentioned especially about the cd shelves that holds 120 cds is that I’d like to get more of those and just stack more of those alongside and on top of each other. Otherwise, I remember seeing very tall rotating multiple cd shelf towers that if I remember right, had shelves for cds that probably had shelves on all 4 sides and probably held maybe 400 cds.
Also I might prefer to keep the music dvds & vhs tapes with the cds if possible and while stacking shelves is fine, I prefer to have shelving between the cd cases so access to my cds is easier and quicker than when cds including in their cases are stacked on top of each other.
Also I already know I’d need at least so much space to hold all that music and video entertainment & the shelves for them. What I plan on doing is getting a place to live that has a whole living room/family room or whatever set up as an entertainment library room including for books. It would be like going to a library, music store or bookstore. So such a room a guy could ask people/visitors, what do you want to hear or see and have all the entertainment easily accessible.
Does anyone know where can I find some cd shelves or tall rotating tower cd shelves that will hold at least 2400 or so cds and that can hold also 1800 dvds & about 600 vhs videotapes?

Do you generally waste a huge chunk of your money towards music?
I’m getting bored waiting for the plane to Hong Kong so I might as well mess around on Y!A for a little while. I don’t think I’ll have a chance to choose a BA for this question or give everyone who answers TUs so if anyone could help me do that, please go ahead.
Regarding the question, for me, I think I’m going a little overboard with my music now. In the past five days, I’ve already spent $75 on 16 albums. I’m even burning money on basketball cards; I bought a box with 40 cards hoping for at least one jersey card or autograph, but the best things I found in there were only Steve Nash, Kobe, Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Derrick Rose, Nate Robinson, Ray Allen, and Kendick Perkins base cards. No rookie cards either. The best album deal I got so far in the past few days was $12.49 for a BYO Records box set with two clear red vinyl records, a CD, a DVD, and a huge book (originally $50).
BQ: Do you like traveling?
BQ2: other than CD/records/casettes/8-tracks/etc. or anything else music related, is there anything else you like to collect?
I used to collect coins–up until two and a half months ago, when somebody broke into my house and stole my coin collection. There goes ten years of my life.
Take care everyone.
Yeah, gotta go. See you guys eventually. And I really like your answer Vicky.
am i the only teen who has a collection???
i collect vinyl records.
and everyone i meet has NEVER collected anything.
what do you collect?

Looking to buy a decent quality (but not too expensive) record player?
For a while now I’ve been wanting to start an LP collection. So far, I have been able to find several vinyls in excellent condition, however I do not yet have a turntable on which to play them (and yes, I do plan on playing them). Ideally, I would like a turntable which is able to play the records without causing any (or which causes very little) wear to them. However, I don’t have a whole lot of money to spend on one. I’d like to spend around $100 on a turntable, but if it would make a big difference I’d be willing to pay up to around $200-250 for a good one.
Any other general advice or information I should know about turntables would be greatly appreciated. I’m very new at this, so I know very little about them. For example: one thing I have noticed is that many seem to come with dust covers. But wouldn’t such a cover also obscure the sound being played rather significantly? Or do you only close it when it is not being used? Also, is any sort of amp typically required? Anything else I should know?
Thank you very much for your help
Thanks for the advice, Brandon. Another question, though: Can you typically put any cartridge on the arm of any record player, or do you have to be careful to make sure you get the right kind? Also, there are quite a few different types of Cartridges within those two brands you mentioned. How do I tell which one to get?
Alright, I’ve done a bit more research and it looks like two good options would be the Audio-Technica AT-PL120 or -PL50. The PL50 is about $70 while the PL120 is $170. From what I can tell, they are both low-end, “starter” turntables, but the PL120 seems to get much better reviews. Is it really worth the extra $100 though? What is most important to me is that I cause as little wear as possible to the records. Would the PL120 be better for this?
Also, I looked into cartridges and managed to find what seems to be a fairly good one for a good price on Amazon – The Shure M97xE, for $55. Is this worth getting, or is the cartridge that would come with either of the above turntables adequate? Are there any others I should consider? Again, I want to reduce wear to the records as much as I can while staying within my budget.
Finally, is there any other equipment I would need to buy with these? Amplifiers, speakers, etc?
Thanks for any help
Has technology made music more impersonal?
What happened to going to a friends house after school and checking out his or his older brother’s record collection. Sitting in front of the record player listening to Aerosmith while checking out the album covers. Checking out the marketing gimmicks on some of the album covers like opening the windows on Led Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti, or the flimsy vinyl used on “The Worst Of Jefferson Airplane.” In the past album covers were art.
Also, the sound quality on albums wwasn’t perfect, with the random pops and static sounds but that gave it a special nuance.
Now we live in the world of perfect sounding music played on a personal player for 1 person to listen to.Instead of a group of people listening to music together and asking what they think of the band or song, now you just hand your earphones off to your friend while he/she listens to the song. Instead of album covers you can hold in your hand, youre either looking at them on a computer screen or squinting to see it on an ipod screen.
With music alot more accessible today, gone is the excitement of running home to listen to the new album you bought, gone are the independent record stores with all the band posters hanging on the wwalls smelling like incense, flipping through albums with your friends, Now you can listen to music anywhere and if you need some new songs you just log on to your computer and download it.
So my question is, do you think technology made music more impersonal ?

What is the best turntable, preamp, and speaker set-up I can buy for under $350?
I have a Crosley Stereo that has a turntable and since I’ve gotten it my record collection has grown quite a bit along with my love of vinyl so I wanna get a higher quality system but I’d need to buy all the components for it. My budget is only around $350(before tax is factored in) but I wanna buy the best things I can with the money I have. Any suggestions?
Music Question For Christians?
I’m a pretty young guy in my 20’s but I have been obsessed with heavy metal music for a long time now. Bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Ratt, Dokken etc… I am going to church these days and trying to life a better Christian lifestyle but I still listen to Heavy Metal. I’ve got a big collection of old heavy metal vinyl records, concert t-shirts, posters etc. A few high school aged girls at church are having a bonfire this weekend and trying to get me to let them burn up all my heavy metal stuff. They even want to burn my guitar up because it has skulls on it! Do you think it’s alright to keep my heavy metal collection or should I give in and let them burn it all to ashes?

PayPal and the IRS, help!?
Hi! Here is my question; A hypothetical example,
Joe decides to clear out his basement of old vinyl records. Over the year, his collection sells for around $2500. Normally, without question I would say that Joe should definitely report the money when filing taxes. However, I seem to be finding conflicting information about this.
Check out what it says over here;
http://www.auctiva.com/edu/entry.aspx?id=Credit-Cards,-PayPal-to-Report-Sellers%27-Income-to-IRS
In there it says
“But small sellers may also avoid the extra scrutiny, given the law’s minimum threshold: Only payees with more than $20,000 in processed receipts and more than 200 transactions for the year must be reported.”
I am in a similar situation to Joe (clearing junk out that could be worth some money) I dont plan on making more than $4-5000 the whole year. Should I file that? If I do, what should it be filed as? Thank you in advance and 10 points to the best!
