Vinyl Record Crate

How many vinyl records (78s, 33s,45s) did the average person have in their collection during the 1960s?

I am curious as to how many records, a typical American had in their collection during the 1960s. I seem to recall each of my parents having about three full milk crates filled with them. If anyone knows statistically anything about distribution rates, that would be appreciated as well (1 in __ people owned a record player). If resources can be cited, it would be appreciated.

Crate Digging – Some Interesting Vinyl Records

I’ve been meaning to post some samples from my favourite records in my collection. As you can tell from the video, my taste is fairly varied, but I usually go for soul/jazz/funk/disco. The Ottawan record is in there as a curiosity. Apparently Thomas Bangalter (from Daft Punk), his father wrote and produced some tracks for Ottawan. The Brass Construction record is one of my favourites of all time. None of these records cost me more than a couple of bucks. Hope you like them. I’ll do more videos like this if it goes down well. Any tips for beginning audiophiles digging in the crates?

I was obsessed with the sample from Amy Winehouse’s He Can Only Hold Her, and John Legend’s Slow Dance. I looked it up on the internet, and the song was “My Girl, She’s a Fox”, by the Icemen, but I couldn’t find it anywhere at all on the internet. My friend took me to an old record store, and we actually found the vinyl. I’ve been obsessed ever since. I was wondering if anyone had any tips or lessons they want to pass down?

Turntables and vinyl records help.?

While cleaning out my parents attic yesterday, I came across 8 milk crates full of old records. I want to be able to play them. Problems… Some of them are different sizes, do I need a different player for different sizes? What type of player should I get? I’m on a bit of a budget. Everything up there was dusty as hell, is there any way to clean them up? Thanks in advanced.
