Has the internet ruined music?
For instance, pop, rock, glam metal, black metal, death metal, etc
what has also happened to the vinyl and cassette tape? mainly the vinyl
it just seems any poser child can now create a myspace music page and state himself as being in a band. sounds pretty pathetic to me, compared to the original way of music, before the internet.
dont get me wrong, i love the internet i use it alot ever sense it came out. but it seems to have ruined the true essence of music in my eyes. ecspecially seeing how almost every music recording now a days is on a cd-r or mcd format which is all digitalized and can be copied, stolen, and shared easily from the .mp3 files

Sound quality of ION USB turntable?
I would appreciate some help here from anyone who has used this turntable for transferring old vinyl recordings to hard disc/CD. It looks like an easy way of dealing with this problem and is attractive to me as I have about 150 33′s and 45′s.
What I’ve been unable to find is a review which comments on the quality of the resulting recordings!
I’ve also discovered these critical comments: “You must download a track at a time to your computer. You must download an additional tool and manually separate each track after recording them to the computer. I have over 100 (excess of over 1000 tracks)LP’s and in order to use this product as intended (advertised) it would probably take me well over a year. I am a very busy person and am looking for a fairly easy to use FULLY automated tool to collect and copy the LP to MP3 format or any other format recognized by iTunes. The ION Powerplay LP USB-Powered LP-to-MP3 Turntable does not provide that capability. ”
Has anyone had first hand experience and can give me some thoughts on the quality and practicality angles please?

Avoiding DRM iPod? or Zune?? or another??
When I grew up recording music off the Radio onto a Reel-To-Reel, all went well. Now FAST FORWARD.. I bought my daughter a Rio MP3 player 2 years ago, tried to go the “legal” route, bought the songs, they played on the computer, but not on the Rio, so we gave up in disgust and she “shared” with friends. NOW she wants an iPod, and I will be DAMNED if I want to go through the same crap again. I could care less about “configuring this or that” Is there a player out there that just ignores DRM altogether?
I love Vinyl, and That’s Final!!

what are the best formats?
Vinyl or CDs ?
VHS or DVDs ?
To people , I guess it’s a matter of opinion. We’re always switching formats. Why ?
First , people listened to records. Then , 8 track tapes. After that came cassette tapes. And finally CDs by the early ’80s. And now , there’s MP3 (whatever that is), and Ipods.
First came the beta tapes and VHS tapes. Then DVDs. And now Blu Ray discs. BUT WHICH IS BETTER ?
To me , VHS tapes are the simplest format. But VHS lacks the clear picture that DVD has.

Are album covers a lost art?
There were amazing album covers back in the days of vinyl. They were inventive, clever, beautiful. Not all of them, of course, but there were so many that were incredible. Sometimes the album cover was better than the record itself. I remember the 3 D cover on the Rolling Stones Satanic Majesty album, and the Sticky Fingers album with the real zipper (which everyone would rip open the shrink wrap to get at to see what was behind the it), the Beatle’s Sergeant Pepper album, Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, Boston’s self titled first album with the guitar space ship. And don’t forget those double record albums, which opened up like books. Then along came CDs, which shrunk down the cover from 12 1/4 inches to less then five and lost all the glorious details in the transition. At least there was still some sort of artwork at that point, but now with MP3 down loads, even that is a thing of the past.
So I ask once again, are album covers a lost art?

Djs! help me! I need guidance!?
Ok, I have been reading and studying turntables for a while now and I really want to get one. Currently I use a laptop with windows vista and I have reason 3.0 for my music program along with a 25 key midi m-audio keyboard for beats. I really want to scratch up my songs that ive made but they are in mp3 format and Im not famous enough to get vinyl versions of my songs. I need a turntable that I can hook up to my laptop so I can scratch the mp3′s in from my hard drive. I want to be able to record it that way also so I can always listen to the scratched versions of my songs. I am pretty strapped for cash so I really dont want to spend over $200, maybe $250 at max. Please help me find out what kind of turntable set up I need, I really want to learn how to DJ because I just love the way the scratches sound when its done right and well and I think it would be a phenomenal way of expressing myself.

Audacity Music Recorder – No Volume?
I just bought a USB adaptor for my decks
So basically it records all my records straight from the Vinyl, this being fine, but when i go to play the record back i can’t get any volume
I’ve tried exporting it as differant files MP3 & WAV & still no sound, tried many differant things on the mixer
I’ve had people recomend Audacity before PLus it’s what i got with the product, there’s something about a Lame_enc.dll encoder to download, the problem with this is you need another download to run this one which dosen’t even work
The USB Adaptor has a line out as well as, so i was wondering if i had to connect to a seperate Speakers completly, i thought it would of played through the PC but i guess i’m wrong
If anyone has anything i would be grateful
Tried Volume control & nothing – i get no volume as a WAV File in media player as well
