Worth of mint-condition Hard Day’s Night vinyl.?

‘lo, folks.
I just recently bought a mint condition A Hard Day’s Night LP at a local record store for $39.99.
It is an Apple (Rather than Capitol), and in it’s original packaing.
It suffers only a single corner that was slightly bent through the ages.

I bought it to play, however I am a little concerned about opening it if it i worth a fair price.

How much would something like this be worth?
Thank you!
(I’ve checked eBay. They have none).
My apologies.
It is a Parlophone.
There is also a smaller Apple Corps “green apple” on the back that threw me off a bit.

Where can i find “Revolver” by The Beatles, on Vinyl?!?

My boyfriend is a big Beatles fan and a big anniversary is coming up for us so I wanted to get him Revolver since it is our favorite album by them. He has tons of albums already but i would like to get him this, in atleast mint condition. I live near Chicago, about 30 minutes by train or car, so I was thinking of going downtown to buy it. I tried looking for good places to buy records downtown on the internet but I didn’t get much insight. What are good stores in Chicago to buy new and/or used records that are fairly priced? Thanks!

I am into a huge music kick right now and wanted to get into vinyls(45) and wanted to know about it?

When did that format officially/un-officially die? Can I get a decent record player at a pawn shop and reasonably priced LPs online?

What is the difference in record players?

I found an old Sesame Street Vinyl at Goodwill the other day and bought it because of its 99 cent price sticker. I was wondering if I could play it on any record player or if there is a specific type that is best. It says on the bottom that Stereo Record Players are best, as opposed to Mono Record Players. I was looking on Ebay at record players and am a novice to it all. So, any answer will be appreciated. Thanks.

How much revenue does eBay make from sellers that engage in shill bidding?

The voices in my head started talking to me today and they said: “shill bidding seems like it could be very profitable- not only for sellers… but also for eBay.”

Up until about a year and a half ago, you could see who was bidding in an eBay auction. This was awesome because it actually put some sport into auctioning as you could research the other buyers- and by their bidding history, you could calculate your own bid. For instance, vintage01 is a buyer who pays top dollar for vinyl records and rarely is outbid. There’s no point in bidding against him.

eBay has since changed it so that all bids are anonymous, but only after going under fire for shill bidding in 2004-2005: http://www.lawblog.com/2005/02/ebay-accused-of-shill-bidding.html . I put the pieces together:

*Higher auction prices can easily double a sellers eBay fees and PayPal fees.
*Now that you can’t see who’s bidding, it makes it really damn hard to spot and shill bidder and eBay isn’t going to hunt them down .
*With 90% less reports of shill bidding to investigate = more money in eBays pocket…

2008 eBay revenue was 8.541 billion. How much of that came from shill bidding?

@Rob: of course, eBay wouldn’t directly assist in shill bidding- it’s against the law.

However, (and this is the tricky part) there is no law that requires eBay to catch everyone. When bidders id’s are public, users catch the shill bidders and report it- eBay is then obligated to do something about it. So under the GUISE of “buyer security” (as if buyers would fly cross country to kick some sellers ass who outbid me), eBay made this new policy. What I don’t get, is how it went unnoticed. eBay now allows Power Sellers to blatantly shill bid as long as it’s done discretely and undetected- which is not very hard to do considering the community has no hard evidence (bidder history) of shill bidding!

Obviously, the IRS doesn’t care. eBay probably pays them nearly 500 million in taxes.

Question about Vinyl and Turntables?

I’ve been wanting to get into vinyl for a while, but I am really lost as to where to start. I am an absolute beginner when it comes to the subject; the most experience I have with vinyl is looking through my dad’s old records in our basement. I have never even operated a turntable.

I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on what turntable to purchase. I want something that’s of good quality, but it doesn’t have to be fancy / feature packed. Any advice? My price ceiling would probably be about 300 dollars.

Thanks

Where can I buy vinyls/records/LPs, or whatever you call them for cheap prices?

It would be nice to find a place in south Florida or online that sells vinyls for good prices.

Making New Vinyl Records In Your Opinion…?

Will this bring down the price of our original Vinyl Records?
What do you think?
I spoke to another collector I know today about this subject, but I wanted more opinions then just us two. Both of us have original records from the 60′s and 70′s and he has originals from before this….

Will collectors still want the original vinyl, or the “remakes”?
