Vinyl Record Software

Any way to make digital scratching sound more analog (aka real)?

I know the superiority of vinyl scratching, but I have many samples that I can not find pressed on vinyl (like samples I have recorded myself).

Are there any ways of taking digital samples and scratching without the sample sounding so… well… digital? Virtual DJ has some nice features for the little program that it is, but the scratching sounds horrible.

Anyone who has scratched with Virtual DJ will know what I’m talking about when I say the scratching sounds horrible.

Besides mp3/cd ‘turntables’, what are some options I have for digital sample scratching? Any audio settings recommended? Other software? Any opinions are welcome.

How am I able to mix MP3 files on my computer using two CD turntables?

If i am using two Stanton C.314 CD Players and I want to be able to mix MP3 files without burning CDs, what software would I need to use for this to be possible. I have a macbook and have seen many DJs perform with a laptop and not have to change CDs or Vinyl records.

After doing a couple of sets, it can get a little hectic trying to find songs people request before a song ends, therefore I would like to know how to utilize my MP3 files on itunes, yet still use my CD Players and Mixer.

Thanks for any help.

CD sales have dropped steadily for over a decade. Does this mean the end of ‘the album’ or ‘LP’ as we know it?

The LP came along in the late 1940s, and it was then that we saw the first true ‘albums’, that is, a collection of songs or pieces by an artist that the artist wanted us to hear in a certain order. The first album may have been Frank Sinatra’s In the Wee Small Hours.

Soon every artist was releasing Long Play albums with anywhere from 6 to 22 songs.

After vinyl records came cassettes, and soon after that Compact Discs. (CDs)

In the past ten years sales of CDs have done nothing but decline. Now people can download music (whether legally or illegally) The music now comes from a totally software based origin. There is no permanent hard copy to carry around or store.

Does this mean that we will see the end of the album as we know it?

Will we have mostly singles in the absence of CD sales?

Without a hard copy to sell there will be less emphasis on covers and artwork, as well as the idea of the ‘concept album’ where the songs are in a certain order.

What are your thoughts on this?
The idea of the album, or program or song or pieces continued to flourish with CDs. But with no real ‘hard copy’ manufactured and sold, this makes for a potentially different approach to things. You don’t have space to fill, or to be limited by.

What’s the best way to convert LPs to CDs?

I have a couple of hundred vinyl LPs of music, and have a turntable/record player, but would like to either burn them to CDs or load them onto my mp3 player (Zen Vision). What hardware/software do I need and how do I do it?

Does the terminal decline of Compact Disc sales spell the end for the ‘concept album’ as we know it?

How can I make music remixes?

What are some possible options to making music remixes such as combinding one song with another to make a cool tune. Can this only be done with vinyls, is there a computer software or even a vinyl record player that will hook up to my computer and make this possible?

Old-style vinyl LP records…?

My question is: Can the music on old-style phonograph records be converted directly to a digital format (to preserve sound quality) so that it can be burned onto CDs? (For private use, of course.) There has to be a way. Record companies do the same thing, don’t they? I’d like to know if there is hardware & software available to the public for this purpose or if there are companies who offer this service. In any case, I’m wondering what would be the least expensive.

HELP….Converting vinyl records into CDs?

My uncle has a whole bunch of old vinlyl records he wishes to convert into CDs. I heard there was software or special devices that you could plug into your computer that would allow you to do this straight from there. Does anyone know what this is? or how you could even begin doing this? This would really help him out, he is retired, a musician in his spare time & he needs something to keep him busy now that he’s older.

Looking for free cd burning software. Windows media took 6+ hours to burn 30 songs! Any thoughts or ideas…?

There is no way that Windows Media should take 6+ hours to burn a 30 song cd. Could I be doing something wrong? I pay/download from Mp3 Music Downloads (at 15 cents each) and occasionally from Walmart.com (which is more expensive), and that’s it. I have Nero (which came with my burner) and it burns FAST but the finished product skips badly. Anybody have any suggestions? I’ve all but given up on Windows Media and Nero. Music I am downloading has been Linda Ronstadt, Carly Simon, Carole King and Janis Joplin. Very high voice at times, but in this day and age, I wouldn’t think that this would create a burning problem. I could see a vinyl record jumping around, but, REALLY, this IS the digital age! Am I giving away my age?…. LOL
