Vinyl Record Wall

Any unique(non-tourist) places to visit near the Chicago loop?

I’m aiming at fun and interesting, adventurous, less expensive.
Thrift stores, quirky hole-in-the wall dives, places to meet interesting people, experience culture, galleries, vinyl record stores, independent bookstores, eclectic bars(not clubs) with drink specials, places that host comedy/open mic. Anywhere you have been that has entertained/captivated you, a fovourite that you would like to share.. please do.

i recently bought some vinyls that i was going to hang on my wall for decoration
will this ruin the records?

Does anyone know where i can get covers of vinyl records?

Not covers as in song, but as in the thing the record goes in! But without buying the actuall record inside? Cos i wanna cover a wall of my bedroom in them (covers) lol ive tried eBay :-/

How to hang up records?

How can i hang up vinyl records on my walls without damaging them and not using tape? Is there any special way to do it?

Have you ever had your vinyl records ruined?

Misery loves company, so I’d like to know I’m not alone…
Have you ever had any of your vinyl ruined by the weather (sun, rain) or gotten it broken some other way?
I was packing for my move to Portland and discovered my original pressing of Pink Floyd’s , “The Wall” and my Tears For Fears, “Songs from the Big Chair”, in horrible shape.
My bf’s Fugazi’s (err…can’t remember the name of it…Big Hits or something) is also ruined.
What I am assuming happened, is the last time it hailed here, the water came in through cracks and destroyed them.
I had them sitting on the top of my record player (not sure if it still works!) near the window well in the basement.
Has anything like this ever happened to you?
We were supposed to leave today, but it looks like it will be tomorrow because the final packing is taking so long…

Can you buy an actual record for a relativly new CD?

Are they still making vinyl records at all?

my grandma gave me some of her old vinyl records for me to put up on my walls (my room has a sort of music-y theme). i’m excited, but there’s one problem- i don’t know what to use to stick them up! maybe adhesive? double-sided tape? i have no idea at all.

question about Blue Sticky Tack?

Hey, I’ve been using Blue Sticky Tack to hold vinyl record covers on my wall, as posters pretty much. Anyway after I take them down and remove the blu tack, there is a grease/oil/residue mark where they were on the record back. In the four corners there are 4 slightly discoloured circles. Is there anyway to remove this grease?
